Here's a thought. Is the generation gap closing? Are those in their 30's and 40's more able to relate to those in their teens and 20's nowadays (Okay. I still think hip-hop is crap, but I won't yell "Hey you kids! Turn down that noise!")?
I think it is likely that the generation gap is taking a beating. Many adults leaving having kids till later in life, and basically staying big kids themselves. And I think technology is helping as well. In years gone by, adults probably didn't understand half the noise spewing out of kids’ mouths. Now you just need to look it up on Urban Dictionary.
When I was about 11, I was speaking to my Grandfather (My Mum's dad), and he told me that in his seventies, he still felt like he was 17. Perhaps in future, age won't have quite the meaning it does today.
